Have you recently updated your iPhone and are experiencing issues with your ReSound hearing aids? Well, it turns out you wouldn’t be alone!
Since the release of iOS 13, which came out on September 19th, 2019, there have been heaps of complaints from iPhone users reporting issues with apps that require Bluetooth.
The purpose of the update was to make the system more user-friendly and provide an overall smoother and more enjoyable experience for iPhone users. Unfortunately, it seems that they have done quite the opposite! A nightmare for such a massive company with an estimated 85 million iPhone users in the US alone.
So, where does the problem lie with hearing aids? Since hearing aid connectivity requires Bluetooth and the new update requires Bluetooth permission in “non-tech speak,” this means that as well as having to have your phone’s Bluetooth turned on, you now have to give each app permission to use your Bluetooth.
This, therefore, has caused significant problems for people connecting their hearing aids to their iPhones & tablets. The same issues are also arising for people wanting to connect their phone to their wireless headphones and their car stereo.
Because of this, there has been some confusion as to what the problem is. Many of our patients have called in thinking that their hearing aid is the problem when, in fact, it is an issue with the new iOS update.
The iOS software tells your iPhone how to connect to your hearing aids. However, the new and updated version of this (iOS 13) is experiencing issues that are affecting the connection.
The update is awfully buggy, which is creating a negative experience for ReSound hearing aid users.
