A town that works as hard as ours deserves one of the state’s best diners, and we got it!”

Love Local: A Blue Collar Breakfast Spot

by | Oct 10, 2022 | Local News, Love Local, Patient Resources

We are a local business and take a lot of pride in that. As such, we want to be a part of it as much as we can in our community. However, we are not the only ones. It takes many business owners to create a neighborhood as outstanding as this, and we wish we could give each of them the recognition they deserve.

Eventually, we will. But today, we want to bring your attention to a place that has been serving top-tier dinner food since the ‘90s. Their food and drinks have been putting smiles on locals’ and tourists’ faces for over three decades.

If you ask me, they should be featured in USA Today, but for now, this will have to do. If you’ve never tried KD’s Diner, this is your calling.

History of KD’s

Located in the heart of Lake Charles, KD’s has been a fixture here for over 30 years. Providing fast and delicious comfort food to everyone in the community.

Their reasonable prices have made them popular amongst everyone in town, and going there can sometimes be like a reunion because you’re sure to run into someone you know from town.

With large portions, homestyle recipes, and super attentive staff, we hope KD’s sticks around for a long time into the future. They are just like us, locally owned and run by residents here in Lake Charles.

Keep up the great work KD’s; we hope you stick around for another 30+ years.

Menu Must-Haves

You have to get the hashbrowns in some way, shape, or form. Half the fun is choosing how you want these delicious potatoes to be made for you.

KD’s Special Hashbrown

The tried and true classic. If you’ve never been to KD’s before, then make sure you start with a heaping pile of KD’s Special Hashbrown. This will set the tone for the rest of your meal and let you get creative with the other options.

KD’s Hashbrown Menu

If you’re familiar with KD’s, then you already know about the extensive hashbrown menu that makes dreams come to life. This is comfort food at its finest.

I recommend KD’s Southern Chicken Hashbrowns as this combines all the best foods from the south. You’ll look at hashbrowns differently after this dish; they aren’t just a side dish anymore.

Coffee

Like any great diner, the coffee here is exceptional. You don’t have to sit down to enjoy it because you can just grab a cup to go if you’re in a rush. There are also some items on the menu that come out fast if you can’t stay long.

Croissant Sandwich

Not just for breakfast, KD’s knows how to make a spectacular sandwich, and they do it on a freshly baked croissant. Choose from a variety of meat combinations that includes shrimp!

Why Locals Keep Returning

While we always support local businesses first, it makes it easy to do so when that local business works hard and is an active member of the community. The staff here know how to handle the busy times and are still available for a light-hearted conversation.

I may be a little biased since my daughter Gabrielle works there, but it’s also a point of pride since we admire the work that everyone does there so much.

After all these years, KD’s prices have remained as low as possible. Of course, prices have to rise over time, especially when you’ve been in business for over three decades, but KDs has managed to do it gracefully and without any resistance.

How to Get More Info?

If you have any questions about this fantastic part of our neighborhood, I’d be happy to discuss them all afternoon. I can’t say enough good things about them, and I am so proud they are a part of Lake Charles.

You can also find them on their Facebook page or via their website

These are the kinds of businesses that make a town home. While we work to improve everyone’s hearing, KDs works to make sure we don’t go hungry in the process.

Do you know somebody that needs to see this? Why not share it?
