Jonas Cove and Canal Switch were names used for the community now referred to as Egan, LA. Thanks to the roadbed laid for the Louisiana Western Railroad from Lafayette to Lake Charles, which was rerouted to eliminate bridging across Bayous Plaquemine Brûlée and des Cannes and the building of I-10 on or nearly on the same roadbed, our community has always remained just off the beaten path.
